A history of the Third Reich in Munich
Approx a 3 hour tour through Munich's darker history, the official capital of the Nazi regime and "Hauptstadt Der Bewegung" (Capital of the Movement), where the Nazi party was spawned in 1920 in the world famous Hofbräuhaus.
Learn about Hitler's rise to power and the key events that took place in Munich during the 12 years of the "Third Reich", such as the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch, Kristallnacht in 1938 and the failed assassination attempt by Georg Elsner in the Burgerbräukeller on the 8th of November 1939.
The tour will conclude at the former Nazi HQ buildings which survived the second world war.
A fascinating and compelling glimpse into Munich's "dark" history.
We will begin in Marienplatz for a short introduction to Munich and the Third Reich history. From here we will be visiting the buildings where the Nazi party and SS origins first began including the world famous Hofbräuhaus and continue on to Odeansplatz, the location where Hitler's notorious "Beerhall Putsch" in November 1923 was thwarted.
We will pass by the location of the former Gestapo headquarters in Munich and end the tour at the former Führerbau, Hitler's former office and HQ in Munich, which we can visit inside.
At this location on April 30th 2015 a new National Socialist Documentation Centre/museum will be opened and would be an interesting finale to the tour if you wish to visit this afterwards. (entrance fees are additional).

Super tour guide; very flexible and accommodating. Showed genuine interest in showing all the things I wanted to see. I saw and was shown things I wasn't expecting (Sternecker, Elser Platz, etc). I was very pleased by tour completion with the sites and information I obtained...filled in a lot of gaps in my historical timeline. Thanks Maxine!!!!
