If any member of the party needs to bring a wheelchair or wheeled walking aid, please choose the modern SUV vehicle, as vintage cars do not have suitable storage space. Sorry about that - it's the way they built them!

It's all about yumminess - in your choice of a beautiful vintage car or a modern SUV

This really is a tour with a difference. You may know that Napier and the wider Hawkes Bay region is the oldest wine-producing area in New Zealand, but did you also know it's a major food producing area?

Kiwis have long known that when it comes to fresh produce, the province of Hawke's Bay has been at the forefront for many years. Since the 1930's, when the legendary James Wattie first started pulping Hawke's Bays' surplus fruit, locals have been complimenting the regions' harvest of fresh food by creating amazing artisan products. From figs to strawberries to honey and of course not forgetting awesome ice cream and chocolate, the variety is staggering.

This tour is designed to give you a taste of the produce and to meet some of the producers. Like all my tours, this tour is completely customisable to your personal preferences.

As food production (esp. strawberries) is seasonal, the products available will vary seasonally. Please note the figgery is closed on Sundays.


This tour is completely customisable, but be warned: this one is very naughty, as it's all about decadent foods . . . strawberries, ice cream, chocolate, figs, honey and more. Exact tour content varies as some products are seasonal.

A relaxed cruise through beautiful Hawkes Bay and around the Art Deco City of Napier will be punctuated by stops at various artisan food producers where you will sample the produce and will often have a chance to talk directly to the producers.

At the Silky Oak Chocolate Company you will taste the finest chocolate and browse 'The Pantry' - a fabulous selection of goods offered by local artisan producers.

At Rush Munro - proudly New Zealand's oldest ice cream maker - try the delicious range of 100% natural ice cream flavours. Other stops can include honey, figs, strawberries (in season) and olive tasting.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: I will meet you at any location within Napier.

If you are arriving in Napier by cruise ship, please let me know - I will send you details of the cruise ship passenger-only meeting point.

End location: I will drop you at any convenient point in Napier.

Duration: 4 hours


You can choose between either a beautiful vintage/classic car or a modern luxurious SUV with air conditioning, full leather and privacy glass.
The vintage cars are:
1) 1954 Daimler Conquest "Queenie"
2) 1931 Chevrolet Independence "Millie"

In the vintage/classic cars I recommend limiting to 3 passengers for comfort.

The modern SUV is a spacious Nissan Murano with air conditioning, full leather and privacy glass.

What’s Included

Transportation, an ice cream cream for each person at Rush Munro's and tastings of chocolate, honey, figs and olives (subject to seasonal availability).

Estimated Local Cash Needed

35 New Zealand Dollars - estimated possible costs per person to cover refreshments or snacks along the way, which are of course optional. This should also be sufficient to cover purchase of a punnet of strawberries when available.

What’s Extra

Strawberries are not included in the tour price as it's a highly seasonal product and availability is therefore difficult to predict. Additional food and drink beyond what is described is not included in the tour price.

such a fun day - we spoke to MANY passengers who wished they were going on our tour, rather than the Winery tour they choose. The only downside was we couldn't take as many of the wonderful treats as we wanted, as our cruise ship was being VERY vocal about not bringing food back (Australia's biodiversity laws), grateful for Honeyland shipping
