I am passionate about the Island and my country, Canada - its history, culture, and the natural environment.
I currently work as a Collections Curator for a forestry museum, where I have the pleasure of applying my work and educational experiences with one of Vancouver Island's premiere heritage attractions.
I have travelled extensively, and know the value and pleasure of seeing and experiencing culture through the eyes of a local guide. Sharing my knowledge and passion with others through exceptional customer service is not only my goal, but is the only way I know how to guide.
With over 40 years working in forestry and the heritage fields, I have worked with young and old alike, from Kindergarten to University, and firmly believe in the value of lifelong learning.
As with any ToursByLocals guide, I can customize a tour to meet your specific interests and needs.
I invite you to join me for a true West Coast experience, as we explore First Nations culture, rich pioneer history, and the splendid natural beauty of Central Vancouver Island.
Currently I am the Collections Curator for the BC Forest Discovery Centre (Duncan). Previously, I was the General Manager for the McLean Mill National Historic Site. (Port Alberni).
I'm a member of the Canadian Tour Guide Association of BC, and have two diplomas; one in Cultural Resource Management (University of Victoria), and the other in Forest Resource Technology (BC Institute of Technology).
I'm a member (Past President) of the Arrowsmith Rotary Club, and have held various positions with the Alberni Valley Museum and Heritage Commission and the Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce.
I'm not a licensed bus driver, but can hire or arrange a driver for larger groups.
