walking in a nostalgic town from the 17th century
In this tour, we visit a national treasure castle, MATSUMOTO CASTLE, a 17th-century TSUMAGO POST TOWN, and stay over night in NARAI POST TOWN, both are on the NAKASENDO ROAD going through Nagano and Gifu Prefectures.
MATSUMOTO CASTLE is a national treasure castle with the original structure, and was built in the Warring State Period, around the 16th century. Therefore, it looks sturdy yet very beautiful against the Japan Alps and the flowery garden.
TSUMAGO is a 17th-century post town on the Nakasendo Road in mountainous Gifu Prefecture. It is Japan's first important preservation district of historic buildings. Many old buildings like inns, shops, and tea houses are centered around the post station, having retained an old and good atmosphere.
Once you get in the town, you feel as if you were a 17th-century traveler. You can enjoy a relaxing walking, historic sites , local foods, and beautiful views of Kiso Valley.
I believe these experiences exactly make your travel to Japan special.
