Feel and Enjoy local peoples mind at "Central Market", "temples in the woods", and "Depachika"
Yanagibashi Central Market is known as the "pantry of the citizens". Not only professional chefs but local people can buy fresh foods peculiar to the market. Visitors can also enjoy meals there.
Koshoji Temple features a 5 storied wooden pagoda and beautiful garden. Koshoji is also known as "pokkuri-dera" where elderly worshipers pray for a painless death.
You can enjoy a Japanese sweet and matcha green tea in the tea house of this temple.
Toganji Temple features an impressive green statue of a 15m high seated Buddha. It also has Chinese-style gate, an ancient pine tree and a thick bamboo grove. If you touch the huge Mokugyo (wooden gong used by monks while chanting sutras) with one hand, it is said to purge your past sins. So, don't forget to touch it.
"Depachika" means the basement floor of department store. It is like a gourmet food wonderland. Be sure to spend some time exploring depachika during your visit to Japan.
Little bit off the beaten path, very recommendable!
