Visit the Musee d'Orsay and discover Impressionism with an art historian
Visting the Musee d'Orsay is a unique opportunity to truly understand the Impressionists art "revolution". Follow me in this journey into French Art history: from the middle of the 19th Century to the beginning of the 20th, from Academic art to Impressionism and Post Impressionism. We will admire masterpieces made by some of the most famous artists of the world like Manet, Monet, Degas, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Toulouse Lautrec, Whistler, Cezanne, Pissarro, Renoir and many others and we will also discover together the architectural beauty of the museum. It is well known that before being a museum it was a train station, but do you know there is one of the most beautiful window of all Paris in there?
The tour will includes a short walk in the Academic art and Naturalism rooms and then the most famous works of art by:
- Toulouse Lautrec
- Whistler's mother painting (when on display)
- Monet, Degas, Renoir, Cezanne, Pissarro paintings
- Post impressionism gallery (works by Van Gogh and Gauguin).
- Panoramic terraces (inside and outside when open) to enjoy the beautiful views on the Museum main gallery and on the river Seine.
On request I can create a bespoke tour including different artists, art movements (Symbolism, Pointillisme. . . ) or museum galleries

Sara Valtorta was awesome, informative, her knowledge of the Impressionist painters and the time they lived in was such a deep well that she drew from so eloquently. Not hurried, she is very discerning, consequently toured at a pace perfect for me. She is so pleasant, not egotistical of her amazing knowledge and ability!
