The Eagles Nest, Königssee, Salt Mines and the Beautiful Bavarian Alps with a Private Guide
Berchtesgaden boasts 3 genuine highlights that travelers from around the world enjoy: the Eagles Nest, the serene Lake Königssee and the fantastic Salt Mines.
The Eagles Nest is a historic house from WWII. The story of the house is riveting, including the 124m (400ft) brass elevator. The views from the top - 1834m (6000ft) - are spectacular. Access to the Eagle's Nest is weather dependent; it is open from mid May to the end of October
The Königssee is a deep - 190m (620ft) alpine lake in a national park. Only electric boats ply the waters and they take you out to a peaceful spot where the St. Bartholomew's church serenely stands.
The Salzbergwerk is a working salt mine with a fantastic tour. A train takes you 1. 3km (8/10 mile) into the mountain where you learn all about salt mining, take a boat ride and go down two slides.
Base price may be more for larger groups (larger vehicle).

We skirt the north edge of the Alps through some of the most beautiful country in Bavaria as we head west to Berchtesgaden. We stop for a photo op at the picturesque church in Ramsau before heading through Berchtesgaden and on up to Obersalzberg.
From there we board buses, the only vehicles permitted on the road to the top of the mountain. We get off the bus and take the famous elevator to the Eagles Nest.
Depending on your wishes we can stay as long as two hours at the Eagles Nest, though the normal stay is roughly 1. 5 hours.
Then it is back down to Obersalzberg, lunch and a visit to the Documentation Center.
The afternoon is reserved for the Salt Mines or even the boat ride on the Königssee if time permits. Otherwise we will visit the quaint center of Berchtesgaden for shopping, coffee or just to soak up the alpine spirit.
Note: the Eagles Nest is only open weather permitting - the season runs from mid May through the end of October.

This tour was fantastic! We spent two days with Kevin, visiting Neuschwanstein as well as Berchtesgaden. Kevin is a wonderful guide who knows so much about the history here, and he was a lot of fun to spend time with. He also saved us a lot of time and effort with navigating the crowds and finding our way around; it was so easy. Thank you Kevin! We had a great time.
