See more of Munich's inner city in half a day!
See, stop at and hear about some of Munich's most beautiful sights and historic landmarks! I will give you an overview over the city's history and include a little bit of everything into this wonderful round trip through the inner city. We'll talk about Munich's beginnings in the middle ages, Munich as the seat of the Bavarian rulers, what Napoleon's got to do with Munich, how the city grows modern and splendid in the 19th century, how Hitler takes over and turns it into the capital of his movement, and what Munich is like today.
During this tour we'll explore both the heart of Munich, its bustling old town, and the area around it strolling along many sights which tell us more about the city's more recent history. If you want to, we can take a short break in between to rest our feet, maybe grab a coffee to go and sit down in the beautiful former palace garden and enjoy the atmosphere. Going local by catching the bus we'll ride over to another must-see area of town: King's Square with its two-sided history.
Walking tour through old town with central Marienplatz square and stunning Neues Rathaus (new town hall), Frauenkirche (cathedral), open-air market Viktualienmarkt, Munich's oldest church Alter Peter, the city's most famous beer hall Hofbräuhaus, former kings' palace Neue Residenz, the site of Hitler's failed Beer Hall Putsch Odeonsplatz with one of Munich's most beautiful churches.
Take a break in and then stroll through former palace garden Hofgarten over to the seat of the Bavarian Prime Minister Staatskanzlei, the monumental museum Haus der Deutschen Kunst built by the Nazis and Munich's surf spot Eisbachwelle.
Short public bus ride to Pinakotheken museum district, walk around the Greek style Königsplatz square over to the former center of power of the Nazi party and one of Hitler's representative buildings, the Führerbau.
Our tour can end right here, or using the subway I can take you back to Marienplatz, the starting point of our tour, or to another spot nearby - whatever is most convenient for you.
