Visit Muir Woods National Monument and scenic Sausalito with a Private Guide!
Until you have gazed up close at an ancient, old growth redwood tree (Sequoia Sempervirens) you cannot fully grasp how magnificent the tallest trees in the world really are.
Take a break from busy city life and spend half a day (morning or afternoon) walking through the only grove of first growth, old-growth coast redwood trees in the Bay Area with a local who has over a decade of experience as a driver & tour guide in the region.
Muir Woods National Monument is just 12 miles north of San Francisco in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
On this tour, we will also make a stop in the scenic seaside town of Sausalito, known for extraordinary views of San Francisco and the Bay. You may choose to end your day with a meal on the water and a bay cruise back to San Francisco on your own.
This tour can be customized to suit your preferences, so if you would rather skip Sausalito and take your time hiking or seeking out some spectacular views I will work with you to plan just the right itinerary.
I will pick you up from your hotel or accommodation in San Francisco and we will head north across the Golden Gate Bridge for the 30 minute drive to Muir Woods National Monument. Along the way I will tell you all about the Redwood trees and how this one lone grove managed to be preserved. Once in the park you will have about an hour and a half to wander, hike and marvel in the forest. Muir Woods has a cafe and gift shop for food, coffee and souvenirs.
When you are finished in the woods we will drive to Sausalito for a one hour stop to explore this scenic waterfront town.
From Sausalito I will return you to your hotel or accommodation or elsewhere in the city of San Francisco. Or you can choose to extend your day by staying in Sausalito and returning to San Francisco by ferry boat at your leisure.
Typically a morning tour starts at 8:30am and finishes at 12:30pm and an afternoon tour starts at 1:30 and finishes at 5:30pm.
