The Best of Moscow in 4 hours with a private guide

This is a basic tour of Moscow. It acquaints tourists with most important landmarks of the city. It also takes you out of the city centre to see places which you can hardly reach by public transport. This is a "car-only tour". On our way you'll see Red Square, Manezhnaya Square, Russian Duma (Parliament), the Bolshoi Theater, the notorious KGB building in Lubyanka Square, Varvarka Street with its wonderful medieval churches, Christ the Saviour Cathedral, a spectacular panorama of Kremlin Walls, New Maiden (Novodevichy) Convent, the observation platform of Sparrow Hills, Moscow State University, Victory Park, Triumphal Arch, New Arbat Street, Boulevard Ring, the monument to Yury (the Long Arms) Dolgoruky, the founder of Moscow in Tverskaya Street. Moscow Classic Half-Day Tour can be easily combined with any other half-day tours such as Soviet Moscow, Kremlin Tour and some others. The tour can be also complemented by lunch and a visit to St. Basil Cathedral for additional price.

This tour usually starts in the central area of Moscow. On our way you will see Manezhnaya Square, Russian Duma, the Bolshoi Theater, the famous KGB building in Lubyanka Square, Varvarka Street - a museum of Russian medieval architecture in the open air, St Basil Cathedral and the impressive Borovitsky Hill with a spectacular panorama of Kremlin Walls. Then we drive by the Pushkin's Museum of Fine Arts with its endless queues of art-lovers and the Gallery of European and American Art of the 19th-20th centuries. We'll make a stop near Christ the Saviour Cathedral and the Patriarch's Bridge from which you can see the Monument dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Navy and 'Red October' chocolate factory. The Immaculate (Prechistenka) Street takes us to the New Maiden Convent, an outstanding example of Orthodox architecture sometimes called "the Moscow Kremlin in miniature". You will also see Victory Park, Triumphal Arch, Tverskaya Street and Red Square.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: I will pick you up in your hotel or any other location of your choice. It's also possible to combine this tour with an airport transfer for an additional cost.

End location: Most tourists prefer to stay in Red Square area after the tour but you can also be delivered back to the hotel by car.

Duration: 4 hours

Sometimes tourists want to see Moscow at night which is really fantastic. In May-August it makes sense to start this tour at about 22.00. In this case due to traffic conditions the tour will be about 3-3.5 hours for the same price.

This is a "car-only tour". We have 3-4 stops on the way. Usually I hire Mercedes Viano/Hyundai Starex for groups up to 5 people and Mercedes Sprinter for groups up to 16 people. Tour vehicles are air-conditioned and equipped with a microphone.

What’s Included

Other: This is basically a panoramic city tour. You will see all attractions from the car or during our photo stops thus entrance tickets are not needed. Transportation is included.

Estimated Local Cash Needed

1000 Roubles - You don't need any cash for this tour. But if you feel like eating famous Russian ice-cream in GUM or buying souvenirs during our photo stops you are advised to have some cash with you. USD, Euros and other currencies are not accepted neither in supermarkets nor in souvenir shops.

What’s Extra

Other: Traditionally tourists stay in Red Square area after the tour. If you want to add a visit to St Basil Cathedral to the tour, please, be ready to pay 500 Roubles each for entrance tickets.

A Recent Review of this tour

Natalia was, to say the least, an outstanding guide. she was articulate, knowledgeable and willing to discuss and enlighten us on all manner of fascinating topics. she even took us to Novodevichy cemetery, even though it was not part of the tour.
