Uruguay as Argentina received inmigrants from Spain, Italy, England, Portugal, Russia, Germany, Hungary, Turkey, Poland among others, as well as Jewish from these and others countries.
In our tour we'll visit Montevideo's highlights, mixed with these Jewish heritage brought to Uruguay.
We will visit the Old City first and the Pocitos neighborhood among others, where you will discover synagogues, churches, schools and other important buildings and sites from our both communities.
Jewish people banned by the Spanish Empire started coming at the end of the 19th century. In 1933 many came from Germany.
Discover the attractions and beauty of Montevideo, its beaches, parks, squares, buildings and monuments and the legacy of the immigrants.
One synagogue could be visited inside if you wish, but arrangements must be made in advance.

If you are cruisers, after leaving the cruise, walk along a green path about 200 yards to the Port exit blue iron bar door. It's behind some trees next to the Tourism Ministry. I'll be next to this exit holding a sign with your name. If you don't find me, please give me a personal call.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I meet you at the Cruise Ship Terminal if you are cruisers, at your hotel lobby, at the Carrasco International Airport, at the Ferry Terminal or where you indicate at the time of your scheduled arrival.
If you are cruisers: YACARE EXIT BLUE IRON BAR DOOR (OUTSIDE THE PORT). The Door is behind the trees, next to the Tourism Ministry Building. Once you get off the cruise, you have to walk along a path painted green with footsteps on it. There are touristic guards who may show you the way. (Please see last Yacare photos). If you don't see me, please give me a personal call. (My cell phone is on the Booking form).
MEETING TIME: Ask about Uruguay's local Time.
End location: Will be at the same place where I met you.
Duration: 4 hours
The itinerary is flexible according to your interests, it could not be completed due to weather, traffic or time conditions.
Tour duration on weekends or out of season as there is less traffic, we may finish our tour in a shorter time.

Regarding the number of passengers, it might be a modern car, a Hyundai H1 or a Mercedes Sprinter or similar Van.

Visiting one synagogue inside requires special permits by the security of these institutions (all passengers' names and passports numbers and DOB must be delivered in advance and photocopies of respective passports must be brought on the tour date). Please ask for details about this option. Visits on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays are subject to special approvals.

For people in a good general tour of Montevideo and especially as taste of the jewish sites, this was a terrific tour with a friendly, thorough, and knowledgeable Guide. We learned about the visitors of Uruguay and also its jewish community, as well as seeing the synagogues, school, and community center. We visited the holocaust memorial site as well. All in all excellent and highly recommended
