Natural and human wonders around Bari
We can begin (or end) the tour with Monopoli and its old fortified town on the seaside, the picturesque port, the lavish cathedral, the mummies of the Purgatory church, beautiful rose window of S. Domenico church.
Polignano a Mare (the birthplace of the world famous singer Domenico Modugno alias Mr. Volare) with its lively and picturesque city center, the terraces overlooking the Adriatic Sea with breathtaking views of the cliffs and the marine caves, the bridge on the beach of Lama Monachile.
The historic city center of Alberobello is an Unesco World Heritage site because of its trulli (there are about 1. 500): a unique kind of dry stone (without any mortar) conical roof buildings that have survived quite intact and functioning into the modern world.
At Grotte di Castellana you can enjoy an amazing walking in the caves (70 meters deep) in a stunning scenario made of stalactites, stalagmites, fossils, cavities and the terrific White Cave with its white alabasters and considered the "brightest in the world".
In Monopoli we will enjoy the old town with the baroque architecture, the fortified walls and the heritage of the Knights Templar. A walking tour of Polignano a Mare with its terraces overlooking the seaside, the workshops and showrooms of local artesans.
In Alberobello we will visit the two old Unesco districts of Trulli: Aia Piccola and Monti.
At Grotte di Castellana, I suggest the complete itinerary (2 hours, 3 km long) to enjoy the most beautiful cave (the White Cave). The walking tour begin with the Grave (the first and largest underground cave, the only space connected with the outside: 100 meters in lenght, 50 wide, 60 deep), continues through hallways, and other spaces, very different in size and shape and it will finish with the magnificence of the White Cave with its shining white alabasters.
It's possible to modify the tour with a boat trip to enjoy the marine caves, a fishing excursion, a wine/extra-virgin olive oil/cheese tasting, a stop to shot some photo to some millennium old olive threes.

Alessandro was an excellent guide, we could not have been happier. We did a modified Alberobello-Monopoli-Polignano a Mare half day excursion, which was great. He was very flexible on setting up the itinerary and timing, incredibly knowledgeable, and is very good at sharing what is so special about this unique corner of Italy. We could not recommend Alessandro more highly!
