Modena is a Historic university town and its streets make you relive the medieval town still filled by the echoes of the court of the Este family, who transformed the city into the capital of their Duchy. Modena is home to the 12th century Cathedral, a supreme example of Romanesque art. The Cathedral with its soaring Tower and its Piazza Grande are Unesco World Heritage monuments. Parma has a wealth of sightseeing draws, many of them linked to the years when this was a Farnese and Bourbon dukedom and it has elevated a taste for the good life into a global brand: Parma ham and Parmesan cheese are served across the globe.
TOUR IN MODENA
The walking tour starts from the most important monuments in Modena: Piazza Grande, Saint Geminiano Cathedral and the Ghirlandina tower. The visit continues with the monuments and old streets near Piazza Grande and Via Emilia, the main urban artery since the Roman age. The tour ends with the visit of the area of the former Jewish Ghetto and Piazza Roma with the Ducal Palace of the family Este, presently seat of a Military Academy.
TOUR IN PARMA
The tour starts with Palazzo della Pilotta, built as a court service building annexed to the Ducal Palace. Here you can visit the Farnese theatre, a 17th century stunning wooden theatre where the first-ever revolving stages were installed. Piazza del Duomo has three beautifl buildings: the cathedral, the Bishop's Palace, and the Baptistery. Parma's Baptistery fully justifies a trip to Parma. The tour ends in Piazza Garibaldi, the heart of Parma since Roman times. Many of the buildings on this square date from the 13th through the 16th century
