This is a private tour around the most beautiful, interesting, and bright points of Minsk ("Miensk" in former times). Together we will explore the most significant monuments, persons and legends of this unforgettable city.
Minsk is a city of eclectic mixture where the spires of the old town are towering to the sky together with the modern office blocks, where old private houses' time-blackened wooden walls are standing side by side with soviet palaces' marble, where Baroque's soft and warm lines are in contrast with unapproachable and pompous Stalin's Empire style.
Mutilated in the past by wars and fires, today our main city looks clear and nice. Wide avenues and calm streets, giant squares and cosy yards, green parks will greet you and tell you what happened here over the last thousand years.
If the tour is on car, I'll pick you up at your hotel in Minsk (free) or at the airport (should be paid additionally).
Then we'll explore Minsk streets and squares and backstreets. Old town and its subpurbs, Soviet avenues and monuments, modern city and its highlights.
We'll see Miensk castle place, Island of Tears (memorial devoted to the soviet belarusian soldiers who died in Afghanistan war), Trajeckaje pradmiescie (old Minsk), Victory monument (1954), Janka Kupala's theatre (XIX cent. ), panorama of Kastryčnickaja plošča (October square), Red church (1910), Government's house (1934), socialist palaces at praspiekt Niezaliežnasci, Vierchni horad (Upper town) with the City hall, churches and convents of XVII-XVIII cent. etc.
The tour lasts 3 hrs and is very intensive, but we could make some breaks for a coffee in a nice place.
