Minoan history - ethnographic collection - traditional village with local taverna and a Cretan feast
Crete is covered by archaeological places of Minoan palaces and settlements.
The drive from the Agios Nikolaos town will takes us ca. half an hour to stop at the one of them, Gournia to take some photos of it, while getting familiar about the Minoans.
The road through the olive groves will bring us to the romantic village, situated at the foothills of the Thripti mountain and next to the gorge Ha - reputed to be on the top of the wildest gorges in Europe.
A short walk through the village with exclusive stone houses, visiting the ethnographic collection in over 300 years old stone house and The Cretan feast on the terrace of the nostalgic taverna, will stay in your memories forever.

Elena was a very special guide. She showed me important places near Agios Nikolaos and explained them and other aspects of Crete very well. I was even able to try some local food. Food very different from what I usually eat. She was very patient with me, giving me extra time. I enjoyed my short visit to Crete. I don't think it could have been any better.
