Combining art with my job as city guide is just natural for me as I walk the most beautiful parts of Milan and meeting people who wish to learn more of my place just makes me happy! Travelers bring their life experiences to me and I share with them my love for history and passion for little nice restaurants, local shops and concealed court yards.
I have always been interested in visual art, techniques used by old maestros, their age, attitude towards life and I had fun taking friends around showing exhibitions and the "secrets" of my city. One day, friends from N. Y. told me: "This city is spectacular and you are a great guide, why don't you turn your skills and passion into a job? It would be a natural extention of your moulding clay and painting activities!" Actually I had never thought about it but story telling is art and helps you to look at thing in a different way.
"Why not, is sounds like a good idea!" I thought and, after getting informed how to get licensed, it was clear that I had to focus more on local art, history, law for passing the offical exam. So I did and eventually became a licensed tourist guide of Milan.
I'm grateful to Florence and Jo for helping me to find my way!
Most people think of fashion and design and they are right as Milan has always been the city of image and style but, as you will see, … it is much more then that! Old trams driving by beautiful aristocratic mansions, nice cafés along romantic canals, imposing monuments next to little old streets, all of it makes of Milan a stunning city.
WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
I just organize private tours for small groups and propose excursions focusing on specific districts and atmospheres but I'm absolutely flexible and ready to tailor size any tour according to your needs. If you tell me what your wishes are, I'll make them come true!
Some itineraries are more appropriate for children then others as there are more chances for the little ones to use their imagination and identify with the characters. Other tours require more concentration instead and don't leave so much space to figuring out the events, like kids like to do. So I defined the letter ones as "not kid friendly" but, I believe, that any child can follow any itinerary, it's just a question of adapting it to children's sensitiveness and speak the appropriate "language".
When you check in my "availability" page and you see that the required date or starting time is not available and it's not possible for you to choose a different day or time, pls contact me and I'll try to find a solution in order to get back available for your tour.
Let's make of your stay in Milan a memorable experience!
A Recent Review of this guide
We had a great tour with Valeria. As a native to Milan she is highly knowledgeable about the city, knows its neighborhoods and its history well and has a slew of interesting things to tell. It was no problem for her to modify her standard tour to accommodate our special interests. In addition, we all spoke both English and German, and she slid effortlessly from language to language. We're happy to give her a high rating and a strong recommendation.
