I'm a curious person inevitably looking for the treasures hidden in every little corner and really fond of people as they always bring their experiences and wish to learn more. I'm deeply in love with history and art but I also adore little nice restaurants, artisan shops and concealed courtyards. . . that's real life!
Many years ago, before I got licensed as a guide, I had fun taking friends around showing them the "secrets" of my city. Then, one day, some friends from N. Y. told me: "This city is great and … you are a great guide, why don't you turn your skills and passion into a real job?". …. Actually I had never thought of it before and as it sounded as really good hint, I said to myself … "Why not?"
Well, I got informed, studied hard, passed the exam and eventually got the certification for being a professional guide. It happened many years ago and ever since I've always been working as a cityguide sharing my passion for Milan. I'm grateful to Florence and Jo for helping me to find my way!
Most people think of fashion and design and they are right as Milan has always been the city of image and style but, as you will see, … it is much more then that!
Old trams driving by beautiful aristocratic mansions, nice cafés along the romantic canals, imposing monuments next to interesting cute street markets make Milan a stunning city. The place where past and future meet together and where beauty is always at hand.
WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
I just organize private tours for small groups and I can propose excursions focusing on specific districts and atmospheres but I'm absolutely flexible and ready to tailor size any tour according to your needs. If you tell me what your wishes are, I'll make them come true!
The most convenient way of traveling around the city is by metro, bus and tram. You can feel "real life" and with an unlimited day ticket you really get anywhere in a while!
Why not catching an old tram built in the 20's in the purest Deco style? Sitting on wooden benches under glass-bell lamps is like living in a fairy tale and … it is just part of the game!
1 day unlimited public transportation ticket costs eur 4, 50.
2 days unlimited public transportation ticket costs eur 8, 25.
Anyway, if you feel more at ease sitting in a cab that's no problem, I can arrange it according to your wish.
I can pick you up by your hotel if it is close to the center otherwise, in order you to spare time, we can define a meeting place in the center which you can reach either by tram, metro, busses or taxi. Transport costs are not included in the tour.
Some itineraries are more appropriate for children then others as there are more chances for the little ones to use their imagination and identify with the characters. Other tours require more concentration instead and don't leave so much space to figuring out the events. So I defined the letter oness as "not kid friendly" but that's not completely true as I believe that any child can follow any itinerary. It's just a question of adapting it to children's sensitiveness and speak the appropriate "language.
When you check in my "availability" page and you see that the required date or starting time is not available and it's not possible for you to choose a different day or time, pls contact me and I'll try to find a solution in order to get back available for your tour.
And now enjoy your stay in Milan!
A Recent Review of this guide
We had arrived at Milan earlier in the morning, absolutely jet-lagged. Thank God for Valeria! She was gentle and kind, and her expert guiding allowed us to see many sights in Milan. After that, we were in Italy for many days, but my son said the meal at the v. local restaurant that Valeria recommended was the best meal he had had in Italy. It is testament to the obsession that Valeria had in showing us what was truly Milanese. Thank u, Valeria!
