Historic food tour through Milan's romantic Brera and modern Porta Garibaldi with tastings of local products
During the Old Milano Food Tour, that goes from Brera to Porta Garibaldi (Milan), you will view Milan through the lens of food and discover about local culture and traditions not even known by locals! During the two hour walk I will bring history back to life with stories, images, smells and tasting experiences of local delicacies. I've selected five Milanese entrepreneurs for their special relationship with the true food tradition and sustainable approaches to their daily activities and we will taste some of their best products.
You will get to know the city from an unexpected point of view and receive lot's of information about the development of Milan and about local (food) traditions.
The tour starts on Piazza del Carmine, in the heart of the historic Brera. After an introduction of the tour and a first tasting, we will wind through its romantic, car free streets. There we have another tasting in a colorfull shop selling fresh fruit and vegetables. After that we move on to Piazza San Marco - half way the tour - where I do introduce Milans' relation with water. Then we go through Via Solferino, with its beautiful boutiques towards the old bedding of the Martesana Canal, near Ponte delle Gabelle. A car free part of the city that not many people know of. The tour finishes after a return to the beginning of the 20th century in a stylish chocolate shop that is situated underneath the modern skyscrapers of the Porta Garibaldi and Porta Nuova district.
In case you want a personalized itinerary, don't hesitate to contact me: for example, the tour can be extended and start in Piazza del Duomo so you can also visit Milan's highlights.
