You might not have heard about these places before but each of them is full of amazing surprises.
Oftentimes we skip lots of fantastic places either because we were not aware of their existence or perhaps we just thought we shouldn't spend our time abroad in places that are not very famous. Well, Mexico City has lots of these places and I want to show you my favorites!
We will explore the Historical Center but for this time, we are going to skip the main highlights and explore places like the Abelardo Rodríguez market (full of huge murals and a great place to try local food), The Ministry of Education building (Diego Rivera painted many fantastic murals here), the Santo Domingo square (The Holy Inquisition headquarters in Mexico were there), Casino Espanol, La Ideal bakery and other interesting places on that route.
The icing on the cake is the not very well known "Carcamo de Dolores" in the forest of Chapultepec. There is a small museum with more Diego Rivera's murals (including a huge Tlaloc fountain made of tiles) that even many locals are not aware of. It is a relaxing green area far from traffic.

Juan is one of the best guides I have ever had. He loves his job and it shows!! He took us to places not seen by tourists...and even many locals. If you come to Mexico City, book him for multiple days in advance as he's quite booked out. I wish I had booked him for 2 or 3 tours - he's that good!
