This tour explores Memphis music including a trip to Tupelo Ms. and or Clarksdale Ms. with a private tour guide
This tour is a great introduction for those who have never visited Memphis. I personally like to start this tour at The Arcade Restaurant, the oldest Cafe in Memphis. It's where Elvis had a special booth as he'd look at a wall size mirror in case many fan's came in, he could slip out the door there. Most times you will be able to sit where Elvis would of sat. They say he always asked for a Peanut Butter and Bannana sandwich, which is grilled and incredible. Their specialty is breakfast, Ham, eggs, biscuits and gravy but burgers are also on the menu.
Fans have told me they thought it was better to go to Elvis's birthplace in Tupelo, before Graceland but this is always up to you as this is your private tour. Johnnie's Drive Inn, the Hardware store where Elvis bought his first guitar. Then back to Memphis for Sun Studio's, Stax, The Rock and Soul Museum, the apt. the Presley's first lived in when they moved to Memphis, Elvis's home before Graceland, then Graceland.
Most people want to go to Graceland and Sun Studio''s. This is your Tour, but here are some suggestions.
*The Arcade Restaurant, the oldest Cafe in Memphis and where Elvis had a special booth.
*Graceland-A new Interactive Entertainment Center.
*Tupelo, tour the 2 room house that Elvis's dad built and where he was born as well as the church he grew up in, Johnnie's Drive Inn, The Hardware Store where Elvis bought his first guitar.
*Sun Recording Studio's-Where Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Roy Oberson, Johnny Cash, other's have recorded there. It is still a functioning recording studio, U2, Paul McCartney, Chris Isaak and many other's have recorded there.
*Stax Recording Studio and Museum
*The Rock and Soul Museum
*The Gibson Guitar Tour
*The Blue's Museum
*Itinerary/Tour so many sites to see plus drive time it simply takes 12 hours but this is a comfortable ride much like an easy family holiday or vacation. We stop anytime and anywhere you want, this is your private personal tour.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I will pick you up where ever you'd like. Normally your hotel lobby. I am usually a little early and I will be in a Mid-Night Blue 2016 Dodge Caravan. You will have my cell phone number and I will never be far from you.
End location: Where ever you'd like. Your Hotel, the Airport, a restaurant near your hotel, there are many downtown if at the end of the tour you want to be dropped off at a restaurant downtown. Most all are within walking distance from most hotels.
Duration: 12 hours
I am always flexible as long as another tour does not interfere. Many times people will want to go to Graceland for instance for only a couple of hours. I have taken people there that stayed most of a day. Your tour is designed to go where you want.
A 2016 Mid-night Blue Dodge Caravan. It seats up to 6 very comfortably with lots of room. So it is comfortable for trips around town or out of town to Clarksdale Miss. or Tupelo for instance. If you have more than 6 in your group or feel you may need more room, we can discuss alternative vehicles.
My services as your private guide for the duration of the tour.
All transportation costs are included.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
100 USD - My tour does not include any admissions or the cost of food, therefore for personal items such as food, drinks, or souvenirs, you may want to carry some cash or credit with you on the tour. This is just a suggestion.
The cost of the Tour does not include any fees to get into any of the sites, such as Graceland or Sun Studio's for instance.
Food and Drinks are not included in the tour as I prefer that you can choose your own items from the menu instead of having a preselected meal.
If you would like to extend the duration of your tour, as long as i'm available then that's great. The cost would be $40/hr for any extra time.
I will guide you as well as drive you in a 2016 Dodge Caravan that seats 6 passenger's, however it is not wheelchair accessible.

John was a wonderful guide and I could not recommend him more. He picked us up and started our day by taking us to Tupelo to the birthplace of Elvis. Then we returned to Memphis for touring there. I had a long list of places we wanted to see and he made sure we got to all of them, plus some. We visited during Elvis Week, so places were very busy. Sun Studio had been sold out when we checked and he was able to call ahead the day of our tour and have tickets waiting. Very enjoyable day with John!
