A world heritage site and true gem like no other in Germany!
Spared by bombs in World War II, this splendid World Heritage Site is the biggest original medieval city of Germany. 2000 years of history come alive on our walking tour through the old town. Hear and see what the Romans were up to on the river banks of the Danube. Get a feeling of what life was like in an incredibly wealthy medieval trading metropolis. See where the most important decisions for the entire German Empire were made in the 18th century.
After our tour, use the rest of your day to just stroll around - or shop! Whatever you're looking for - handcrafts, antiques, unique souvenirs, fine clothing - Regensburg is a good place to shop as many unique stores are located centrally in the old town.
Or enjoy the sunshine in one of our beautiful beer gardens, relax on the meadows along the river or join a guided tour through the splendid palace of the Thurn & Taxis family.
Escape the hustle and bustle of bigger cities and enjoy the slower pace of Bavarian life in Regensburg. You'll love it!
On our walking tour we'll explore the areas of the old town with the most prominent buildings. Our route will include the two town halls (you can join guided tours through the inside and the original torture chamber in your free time), Germany's oldest sausage kitchen, beautiful Haidplatz square with its impressive 14th century mansions, Neupfarrplatz square with its Jewish heritage and dark past, and the former craftsmen quarter with its colorful leaning houses. We'll stroll along many beautiful alleys and discover some hidden treasures. The highlights are the Gothic cathedral and the walk across one of the oldest bridges of Europe.
Please let me know if you're not staying in Regensburg, I'll help you get here by train or with your rental car. It's just 1. 5 hours of a ride from Munich and even a little less from Nuremberg. You'll love Regensburg!
