Visit the Matka Canyon on a bicycle.

Words are not sufficient to describe Matka Canyon. It harbors rare species, beautiful landscapes, caves, historic technology and outdoor activity center.

At only 15 km distance, Matka Canyon is the most popular nature place to visit near Skopje. The incredible water and landscapes are a must see. You can hike, canoe, kayak, visit a cave, rock climb, eat in a restaurant or just enjoy the view. It is also the first accumulation dam in Macedonia, with a power plant built in 1938.

To visit Matka Canyon on a bicycle is even a greater adventure, taking you through a rural part of Skopje, passing villages, parks and crossing the Treska River over suspended bridges. It is a beautiful adventure for any season.

We start from your hotel and make our way on paths and back alleys on our bikes out of Skopje. We cross the river Vardar and pause at the park where the two rivers Vardar and Treska meet.

Then we take a rural road along several villages, passing agricultural fields. Then we have pass two suspended bridges over the river Treska in order to get to the main road to Matka Canyon.

We leave the bikes at Matka Canyon and have an optional activity upon your wish: hike up the mountain, visit to a monastery, lunch or a boat ride and a visit to Vrelo cave.

When you are done enjoying the beauty of Matka Canyon, we go back the same road to your place of accommodation.

A Recent Review of this tour

Bojan was very professional, on time, and a great guide. He gave us a fantastic bike ride into Matka Canyon and a wonderful hike up and down the mountain. We only had a limited time but he made it work and we really loved the behind the scenes part of town that Bojan showed and also the incredible beauty we saw by doing his hike. Dr. Bob Beatty
