I am an officially licensed National Tour Guide (plus Vatican city licensed) with an art history bachelor's degree and I truly love to share my knowledge and passion for this magnificent country.
As well as being a true Roman (born here and lived here most of my life) with an in-depth knowledge of what this unique city has to offer, I am fully fluent in English since I have also spent severeal years in the U. K. First in Cambridge where acquired my bachelor degree followed by a loving time in London for a total of more then 10 years where I also acquired much experience in the tourism field.
I am also half Swedish from my mother's side which makes me not only fluent is Swedish but the perfect bridge of cultures between the northern Anglo-Saxon, Scandinavian and the passionate Latin one.
Since my return to the eternal city I have acquired the official license as a tour guide which allows me to legally practice throughout this wonderful country.
I live in the Trastevere neighbourhood which is the most authentic of all full of romance and history…. the real soul of Rome!
My husband is a quoted contemporary artist and I like to say I am married to art for work and married to an artist for love which makes me sorrounded by art from past to present throuout.
With over thousand of years of history, you never run out of things to see in what once used to be the "caput mundi" or 'capital of the world'.
Rome is full of attractions and sights, churches and museums, beautiful views and curiosities, not to mention all the anecdotes! From the world famous monuments like the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and Palatine hill the Vatican City and the Pantheon, the Catacombs, Spanish steps, Trevi fountain, Navona square and Campo de' Fiori market, modern art galleries and the authentic corners of Trastevere where local flavour intermingles with centuries of history …to the hidden gems, secret local spots, and stunning locations It would be my pleasure to show you the many layers of Rome from a Roman point of view!
Walking tours, car tours, food tours, day trips to Pompei, the Amalfi coast, wine tasting day trips to Tuscany and truffle hunting in Umbria to name a few are all the many different activities that I regularly plan.

A Recent Review of this guide
We visited Rome March 5-10th, 2020 right before the COVID-19 lock down. Our group included 5 adults and 3 children ages 6, 10, and 11. All sites were open with just a few visitors, which was nice. Mathilda is very knowledgeable, patient, and had many interesting facts. She was continually tailoring our tour to accommodate the little ones and yet the adults still learned so much. If you are looking for a tour guide then look no further.
