Marksburg Castle - virtually unchanged from Medieval Times
. . . is the only hilltop castle along the Rhine which has never been destroyed.
In the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley there is a castle to be found every 2. 5 kilometres on average, with over 40 of them still more or less intact. Most medieval castles had become ruins due to destruction and abandonment, and had fallen into disrepair. There are very few exceptions such as Marksburg Castle that that have survived the centuries without destruction and which today provide us with a glance back into previous centuries.
Get to know one of the oldest towns of Germany by taking a walking tour around the historical Old Town. The charming and romantic streets between the St. Castor's Basilica and "Liebfrauenkirche" represent today's main tourist attraction of Koblenz. Of course, the sightseeing tour would not be completed without a visit to the Monument of Emperor Wilhelm I at The German Corner.

Stan is a hoot!! We hired him to do a custom/Rhine Valley tour for our family. My father's family came from a small village outside of Frankfurt and we wanted to see if we could find any local family still currently living in the area. Stan was very accommodating to turn off random roads or drive us around the small villages/towns. With my dad's research and Stan's willingness for a venture, we found three generations of our family in one very small town!! It was a fun filled day for all of us.
