Discover Bahrain: Ancient and Modern
Bahrain's interesting history and contemporary attractions come to light with this outing to the Bahrain National Museum, Saudi Causeway, Bahrain Fort and Bab Al Bahrain.
The Bahrain National Museum showcases a rich array of Bahrain's ancient archaeological artifacts. The museum collection covers 6000 years of history and is housed in rooms such as the Natural History Hall and the Documents & Manuscripts Hall.
Following our hour-long visit to the museum, we'll proceed to the Saudi Causeway, also known as the King Fahd Causeway. The Causeway, officially opened in November of 1986, is a dike/bridge combination connecting Khobar, Saudi Arabia and the island-nation of Bahrain.
Next, we travel to the Bahrain Fort, an archaeological site created over the millennia by continuous human habitation. Once the capital of the Dilmun civilization; the site served more recently as a Portuguese fort. About 25% of the area has been excavated, revealing residential, public, commercial, religious and military structures.
