Plaza de la Revolución, Lake Xolotlán, Tiscapa Hillside & Huembés Market
Have a few extra hours "stuck" in the city of Managua before heading out to your great volcanic and surf adventures? Instead of sitting in your hotel, let me guide you through the rebellious history and gorgeous views. On your half day adventure (4 hours) you will learn about great revolutionary heros, dine at the shore of the capital's lake, and trek through the bustling city market.
It is a private tour, accommodating up a group of four. We can work around your schedule to make the tour just right for you.
We will start your capital adventure from your hotel. After introductions, we head toward old Managua to begin to learn about our capital's remarkable history.
Our first stop is Plaza de la Revolución to discuss the history of distinguished Nicaraguan political/cultural leaders. From there we will dine with a view, in front of Nicaragua's famous Lake Xolotlán. This newer lakeside development has dozens of restaurants and shops to choose from.
We continue on to the Tiscapa Hillside where the Somoza presidential family used to live. Although it was destroyed in the 1931 earthquake, the gorgeous view of the capital city is still there to be enjoyed. Below the ruins you can read famous quotes from national revolutionaries, and follow our political timeline through posted photos and captions.
We will finish off by perusing the bustling halls of Huembés Market, a popular place for artisan shopping and good deals. The perfect place to find a keepsake for your memorable day!
