I am immensely proud to have been given the label "Mr. Malaga" by the locals and although my looks may not live up to the name, I certainly know the city that I am honoured to call my home.
Almost all my food tours can be entirely customised to fit in with your time in the city and of course, dietary requirements and allergies can be catered for.
I am British by birth but after living here for over 29 years I tend to regard myself as Spanish. I adore the Spanish way of life and the wonderfully warm and friendly people. I lived in London for 14 years and worked for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as a Stage Manager. Had the good fortune to travel extensively with the Ballet Company visiting over 60 countries in the 14 years. I am hooked on travel! I chose Spain as "my home" when I left the UK and have never looked back.
After moving to Spain I have held a variety of positions in the tourism sector. Guide, Travel rep, Administrator of an upmarket UK travel company based in Malaga. I was then headhunted to be Director of one of Europe's leading Boutique Hotels (in Spain of course!) and after 7 years there, I left in 2006 to create my own Company and it has been a delight to me that I have tempted so many visitors to the city of Malaga. It certainly merits a visit (I am even more delighted that many return after their first visit!)
I feel very privileged to have seen Malaga change so much for the better over this time. Art, Opera, Culture and Architecture are all very important to me, but food is a passion - hence the Food related Tours! I love Gourmet Tapas! I am delighted to share my knowledge of Malaga with you. I am extraordinarily lucky to meet so many warm and friendly people from all over the world through the tours.
A Recent Review of this guide
Michael is an ideal guide in that he is a native of England but has lived in Malaga for 30 years, so he speaks perfect English and also is very knowledgeable about Malaga and Spain. (We have had some TBL guides who rate themselves as fluent in English, but clearly are not fluent or even advanced.) It was a very enjoyable 3 1/2 hours walking through central Malaga and going to 3 tapas bars and chatting with Michael.
Ex-Tour Guide for several Travel Companies. Previously Administrator in Malaga for a Luxury Travel Company, Director of one of Spain's leading Boutique Hotels from 2000-2006 (Winner of Conde Nast Johansen's Most Excellent European Country Hotel in 2002 under my tenure).
Whilst we will pass historical monuments, museums and galleries on the tour which I will, of course, point out, I am not a licensed guide and will not be able to guide you inside of the historical monuments.
