visit to the bunkers of Borgo a Mozzano

20 minutes from Lucca discover an astonishing historical site dating from World War II now open for the first time to visitors.
The Gothic Line was a heavily defended fortification ordered by Hitler and organised by Feld Marshal Kesserling during the final stages of the war, known as the Italian campaign. The line was constructed along the mountain peaks of the Apennines, and designed to cover the retreat of the Third Reich Troops. The strength and depth of the fortifications illustrates the iron determination of the German forces to continue fighting the Allies all the way back to the gates of Germany.
The Gothic Line runs east and west of the River Serchio and is uniquely well preserved: Tank traps, bunkers, underground tunnel systems and hidden pathways inside the mountain, observation posts and trenches.
Discover an imposing and breath taking piece of perfectly preserved Italian history - allow 2/3 hours for your visit.
Your visit includes the Museum of Borgo a Mozzano, 3 bunkers and the Devil's Bridge.

- The Museum of the Gothic Line, Borgo a Mozzano
- Bunker #1 called "The Front Line"
- Bunker #2 called "Madonna di Mao"
- Bunker #3 called " The Church" (under the hill of Anchiano)
- Visit to The Ponte del Diavolo ( The Devil's Bridge) one of the most famous and beautiful bridges in the world.

A Recent Review of this tour

Carlo was an amazing tour guide! The tour was a lot of fun and very informative. Carlo really knows the history of the area and has a lot of personal stories from World War 11. We really enjoyed his tour and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Lucca area. Getting to go into the World War 11 bunkers was a highlight! Thank you Carlo!
