Learn through fun in a living time machine
It is the world's biggest museum with its own 800 year old history, full of mystery, secrets and treasures. I have devised a scavenger hunt where children search for elements in paintings, guess what they mean, and then I tell the true story.
Learn about: Why the Ancient Greeks and Romans were so important, Middle Ages/Crusades, What was the Renaissance all about? Why is Mona Lisa smiling? The mighty power of Louis XIV, Baroque art, the Neoclassic art movement and the Enlightenment and finally the amazing destiny of Napoleon Bonapart.
There is a little prize at the end.
We will start in the Denon wing to see the Winged Victory of Samothrace, follow the story of the Italian Renaissance from its beginning until the start of Baroque, back to Mona Lisa and the largest painting in the museum. Continuing through the large format French Romantics and Neoclassics (Delacroix/Géricault/David) ending in Antiquity with Venus de Milo. Of course the itinerary is flexible according to your particular interests.
