One of the world's finest museums to human progress
An introductory tour to this great Museum. It is so large, with so many exhibits it can be a little daunting when you enter through the Great Courtyard (the largest covered square in Europe).
I propose a two hour 'highlights' tour which will enable you to see not only the best on offer but also to help you decide on further exploration at your leisure.
We will see some of the most famous museum exhibits to be found anywhere in the world including The Rosetta Stone, the Winged Bulls of Khorsabad, Rameses II, the Parthenon Marbles, Roman treasure troves and the Mold Gold Cape.
An easy and ideal all weather tour. We will meet at the Museum and commence our tour in the Egyptian section. Your will have a chance to stop for a coffee and to browse the (excellent) gift shop before going upstairs through the Chinese, Roman and Ancient Britain rooms. If you feel like exploring the wider area some more we can always extend the timings and I can show you the artistic and academic area around known as Bloomsbury.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: Meet at the main entrance of the Museum on Great Russell Street. The Museum opens at 10.00am so if we meet on site then the earliest start time is 10.00am.
End location: We will part at Great Russell Street and I will direct you to the nearest underground station (Holborn or Russell Square).
Duration: 2 hours
We meet at the museum which is a five minute walk from Holborn tube station.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
10 GBP - Entry to the Museum is free so just your own food/drink/fares. The museum is in Zone 1 so if travelling on public transport you will require an Oyster card (travel card).
