Visit beautiful, historical Hampstead and Highgate
See London's real character by visiting these unspoiled old villages. It's amazing that these green areas with cobblestone streets and beautiful old pubs and houses actually exist in London (it also surprises people that they don't have to drive for two hours out of London to find these lovely historical areas).
It's a great way to get off the beaten path and see London's hidden gems, and on this tour I'll not only show you one but two of London's quaint old villages.
Hampstead and Highgate are famous for their history, beauty and nice little pubs and cafes. They are linked by Hampstead Heath, one of London's loveliest and oldest green spaces. And we'll have lunch in a nice old, historical pub.
Within this network of village streets and alleyways, we'll follow in the footsteps of famous poets and artists who lived here and were inspired by the natural beauty over the centuries, including the likes of D. H. Lawrence, John Keats and John Constable.
We'll meet at your hotel, or other agreed location in London.
During the tour we'll visit:
- Hampstead village
- Hampstead's back streets which include the Holly Bush pub and Jack Straws Castle
- Hamstead Heath
- Highgate village with views of (but not entrance into) Highgate cemetery
- Literary locations including the home of D. H. Lawrence and areas that appear in works by Dickens
Note that our pub-lunch is not obligatory, this is your tour and we can rest, improvise, eat and drink whenever and whatever you'd like.
At the end, we'll finish back at your hotel, or other agreed upon spot.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I'm happy to meet you at your hotel or any other convenient location. We'll then make our way to Hampstead to begin the tour.
End location: The tour will end on Highgate High street. This is a nice location where you might like to explore and relax after the tour. So you can stay longer or the guide can arrange transport back to your accommodation.

Duration of tour depends on speed of group. It usually takes less than 5 hours.
We'll take a traditional London Black Cab to Central London, from there the whole tour is walkable. We'll then go back to your hotel via Black Cab. So all necessities (i.e. transport and food) are included in the cost of this tour.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
50 £ - There are no additional fees, e.g. entrance fees or transport fees, on the tour, but you may want bring cash for additional refreshments and souvenirs.
I'm not a driver guide but can arrange transportation on request.
I'm an outdoor walking tour guide and don't specialize in going inside places of interest such as Westminster Abbey.

Jason is knowledgeable yet relaxed and engaging without being overbearing. I think his tours are perfect if you want to ensure you'll walk away with a lasting sense of the core history and current soul of a particular London neighborhood. I especially recommend Jason's tour of Hampstead and Highgate, because he lives in Highgate.
