This tour covers both historical and modern faces of Lodz.
On this tour I would like to take you to the amazing city of Lodz, located 135 km (83 miles) from Warsaw. Before World War II it was a bustling, industrial city with a big Jewish community. After the war it continued its industrial traditions and became the center of Polish textile and clothing industry. Lodz was also known for its Film School. Many famous Polish actors, film directors and cameramen graduated from this school. One of them was Roman Polanski, the director of the Oscar winning "The Pianist".
Going to Lodz is a good opportunity to find out about the history of Jewish community living here before and during World War II. We will visit the area of the former Jewish ghetto, Radegast station, Jewish cemetery and the Survival's Park.
We will also visit "Polish Louvre", a beautiful residence of Izrael Poznanski built in XIX century.
Lodz, which used to be an industrial city, is transforming right now into a modern metropoly. So on our tour we cannot miss such places like:
- Lodz Fabryczna - the most modern railway station in Poland
- Piotrkowska Street - the most representative place in the city
- Manufaktura - a former textile complex transformed into the best shopping center in Poland.
