a historic beauty spot with unsurpassed scenery

Llangollen is a river town set in the beautiful green Dee Valley. Not only is it picturesque - but there are some interesting attractions to enjoy.
We will walk across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct from the canal basin. . The aqueduct stands 126 ft high and connects the valley- once again the scenery is terrific in this part of the Dee Valley and its an interesting experience to traverse these narrow canals built in the last 1800's. . This historic structure is a UNESCO site and well worth the visit.
From there we will visit the town of Llangollen and maybe enjoy a lunch on the riverside at the old converted corn mill. Afterwards we will look at the remains of a Cistercian abbey built in the 1200's and then on to the medieval town of Ruthin with its historic Square and buildings. A pleasant drive home through some quaint green farming communities and you will be back at your hotel or cruise terminal.
