Now to my profile! If you are someone who enjoys a more local and less touristy approach and if you appreciate a guide who can educate you on the country and/or region (and this 900-year old country has "been there, done that" and therefore has A LOT to reveal) , who can give you good food/wine suggestions, and also take you discreetly and in comfort everywhere you would like to go both ON and OFF the beaten track, I am your man. Some time ago I discarded the traditional "organized tours" concept. I don't like tight schedules and itineraries, packed tourist cars and vans, waiting in huge lines at tourist attractions, going on auto-pilot in my interactions with my clients because. . well. . . "they're just another batch of easily forgettable and nameless faces like the ones the day before", stressing in traffic in order to stick to a rigid plan, and so on. I hate that when I am buying tours for myself abroad so I assumed that there were more people like me. And I was right. Those are the ones who I now work for. That includes you.
Having said all of the above rest assured that I am a fully licensed and insured guide and I provide a professional service.
Important: 99% of you could skip this bit but after reading ALL my reviews you will understand why I recently had to add this note. The tours are flexible within certain limits. We can discuss and agree itineraries and possibilities BEFORE the tour. We can also make small changes within reason as we go if we discuss them and I agree with them based on your wishes but also on the reality here and the circumstances at that time. Being the local guide means among other things that I know the customs, the places, the volume of traffic, the parking problems, the time needed, and so on.
Now back to my tours. Forget waiting in line and mingling with the masses - it's time to experience Portugal and Lisbon like one of the cool and discerning Portuguese who stay away from crowds and from . . . tourists (in your case, OTHER tourists)!
A Recent Review of this guide
Luis met us at our hotel nicely ahead of the agreed to time, and we set out for our tour day. Luis is well spoken, attentive and an enjoyable conversation partner. My wife and I were totally at ease with him. We enjoyed our tour stops at the cork processor, the lovely town of Evora, and a really great visit to the Quinta de Quetzal winery near Fila de Frades. We had an outstanding paired lunch, a tour of the production building, and departed for our return to Lisbon. Luis made our day a rewarding one.
