Magics of the past and present
The tour offers a fascinating insight into the culture and architecture of the great city.
We begin by passing the palm-lined seaside promenade with colonial buildings and visit the medieval castle. We continue our tour to St. Lazarus Church 890 AD the most important Byzantine monument surviving in Cyprus and the local market where you can get the real palm and feeling the town. The walk finally takes us in the narrow shopping streets with old and modern buildings.
We will then drive to the Halan Sultan Tekke Mosque framed with palm and cypress trees. The mosque is the most important Muslim sanctuary in Cyprus next to the salt lake where from December to April is full of Flamingos and other migratory birds.
We return to Larnaca for lunch and enjoy the tasty local "souvlaki" (own expense) and then back to our starting point or another agreed-upon location.
* Participants are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes, light clothes during the summer months.
