If you do not want to follow the crowd - Come with me !
We will travel the short distance from Greenock or Glasgow to Largs where you will see an unspoilt taste of what seaside holidays used to be like in the UK.
- A trip to Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae (10 minutes on a ferry) sees an island that time has forgotten. Another seaside town but back to the fifties. Both places are very restful. Lunch can be had in Nardinis a 1930s Italian cafe which is a unique experience. The drive to Largs is stunning and the whole experience is very charming. Scotland has been voted the top tourist destination by CNN. See my blog at foot of webpage January 8th
We will travel directly to Largs - there are two routes both very scenic - with stops for photographs. Lunch in Nardinis( an art deco Italian cafe) is a must and shopping is plentiful.
The Vikings came here and there is a permanent exhibition and monument where they landed.
We can take the short trip to Cumbrae which is a holiday island with a difference. No big hotels here - hardly any cars and back to the "old days" when everything went a bit slower. Most people cycle. Cycles can be hired and you can cycle round the island with not a house in sight. The beaches on the island are lovely.
The ferries run constantly and only take around 20 minutes. It is a safe place for kids and it certainly caters for them.
You can take a car if you don't want to cycle.
One of the advantages of this trip is that you get to meet Scottish people on holiday.
All the other tours go to Glasgow Edinburgh and the Highlands but this one is special. It is my special place. I grew up here.

Our tour to Millport on the Great Cumbrae Island...delightful communities that are away from the crowds and portray Scotland in its best possible light. Bill provided the best of tours, relaxing and scenic, touring in the comfort of his mint condition Jaguar and provided many photo stops as lunch and ice cream breaks with opportunities to mix with the natives. We look forward to touring with Bill again both to these delightful locals and to new ones!
