Unique tour of Lake Placid Private tour with local guide
Join me on an off-the-beaten-path Olympic and historical tour of Lake Placid. This tour will include special places that I've selected for you to enjoy, learn about and experience. I call these places the hidden "Jewels" of Lake Placid.
We will start with a visit to the USA Luge Indoor Start Facility, the US Olympic Training Center (possibly meet Olympic athletes), then a hike on the Mt. Van Hoevenberg trail with a visit to the 1932 Olympic bobsled track and current day luge/bobsled/skeleton track.
It helps to be in good shape for this hike! (moderate difficulty level). After the hike we will stop to visit one of the most important figures in American History, John Brown the abolitionist, who gave his life to liberate and end slavery in America.
Itinerary
The tour will last about 5 hours (at least two hours hiking), so bring a backpack with water and lunch.
Please also bring cash/credit cards and if we have time we can stop to purchase locally "made with love" maple syrup if you'd like.
Tour will start at 9:00 AM. I will meet you at your accommodations and you can drive your own car. We can discuss bad weather options after we connect!
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I will meet you at your location.
End location: I will bring you back to location of our meeting.
Duration: 5 hours
Transportation
You would need to have your own car/cars to follow my car.
What’s Included
My services as your personal guide to Lake Placid.
What’s Extra
Since our tour is partially outdoors, please be prepared for any type of weather. If it's light rain you would need to bring rain jacket, rain pants (if you wish)in your backpack bring extra dry t-shirt and small towel. We would not hike if weather is difficult and rain is to heavy. If weather difficult we can always modify our tour and spend most time indoors. We have plenty areas to explore. Before each tour I will give you game plan. We will have fun.
