A Place visited by Charles Darwin
An easy day walks to La Campana, a place that was described in 1834 by Charles Darwin as "a unique place in this part of the world". We will enjoy the impressive backdrop of the Andes and admire the Aconcagua as a "stoned sentinel" dominating the horizon. This route is a 300 m ascent through native forest; we will descend by a cactus flanked trail and we will able to spot some of the last native populations of the beautiful Chilean palm tree.
The park offers a display of practically every vegetative formation of the central region of the country. The dominant formation corresponds to the sclerophyllous forest.
And thickets which are present in state of renewal. The aspects of greated interest in the quality of its Flora. This is especially so in the summer when the landscape is filled with color together with La Campana mountainous relief that, for a long time has a special attraction for those who practice excursion.
We will take the panamerican Highway from santiago after 1 hour driving north direction we will make a stop to have breakfast in the countryside with home made bread in a small town then we will spend 1 hour more to get to the park and after to arrive we will start our hiking in La Campana National park.
