Bellapais Monastery-Kyrenia Castle- St. Hilarion Castle - Venetian Column- Kyrenia Gate- Buyuk Han- St.Sophia Cathedral
Kyrenia is in the north of the island. You have to drive thru the 'Kyrenia Mountain' to see the most interesting Abbey which is called"Bellapais Monastery". Lusignan dungeon, shipwreck museum which the grape, fig , olive seeds and almonds are exhibited dates back to 300BC. The castle is situated on the yacht marina. After a short walk in the marina we drive to the capital of the island and visit the Venetian column and Buyuk Han. If you would like to see the both cities on the same day this tour is just ideal for you.
Today we shall drive to Kyrenia and visit 'Bellapais Abbey'. This building is a masterpiece of Gothic art, and the most beautiful one in the Near East.
The next stop will be at 'Kyrenia Castle'. This castle was built during the Byzantine Period in the 8th century due to Arab attacks. The 'Ship Wreck ' museum will be also visited in the castle. The museum exhibits date back to 2315 years and include the ships final cargo with the items that the sailors were using. We shall drive to Nicosia, Kyrenia Gate is where we enter the old city which has been the capital since 11th Century. We shall visit Buyuk Han. It is one of the Kervansarays' that was built by Ottomans in 1571. Venetian Column, Selimiye Mosque( St. Sophia Cathedral)will be the last stop to take photos. It will be a day to remember.
