Private tour of one of the most important sites related to the war history of Krakow
According to an order given by Hans Frank, Krakow, as a capital of Nazi-occupied Poland, was meant to be a "Jew-free city".
As a consequence all Jewish citizens were resettled to the separate district.
This tour will take you along the area of the former Jewish ghetto, which was established in 1941 in Podgorze district.
In March 1943 the ghetto was brutally liquidated. Its residents were deported to the labor and concentration camps or killed close to the present Heroes of the Ghetto Square.
During the tour we will see the area of the former ghetto and most important spots related to the famous movie of Steven Spielberg including the museum in the Schindler's Factory.
During the walking tour you will see the Zgody Square (currently Heroes of the Ghetto Square) and the famous Eagle Pharmacy.
We will see the remaining parts of the ghetto walls. At the end of our tour we will visit the museum in the former Schindler's Factory. The original building of the factory is one of the basic tourists' destinations. The exhibition is about Krakow under the Nazi occupation, everyday life of its people - Poles and Jews and about Oskar Schindler.
This is also where the Schindler's List, a film by Steven Spielberg was shot, which was a great cultural event and an eye-opener for people all over the world.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I will meet you at the hotel lobby (or at any other suitable place).
End location: The tour will finish at the Schindler's Factory (or any other suitable location).
Duration: 3 hours
The best way to tour this area is by walk but the district is far away from the Old Town so it's good to take a tram or taxi to get there.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
40 zlotys - This amount of money (per person) will cover the entrance ticket to the Schindler's Factory and a transportation by taxi from and to your hotel or the Old Town.
I do not have a license to give tours inside of Wieliczka Salt Mine nor inside of Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum (they have their own local guides).
