See all the big attractions and learn the history, see turtles and more!
This is one of my favorite tours because some of the sights are not available anywhere else in the world.
We start the Tour at one of Kona's oldest Coffee farms, one of the finest coffee tours in Kona. Then head south to Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park. This park is, without doubt, the most significant Hawaiian Heritage site in all of the Islands. We then tour the Painted Church, a Catholic Church in the Hawaiian Jungle. Kealakekua Bay is the bay where Captain Cook fell on Feb 14th 1779.
Last stop a historic sight with turtles swimming around. You can swim in the bay here as well, it is fun with gentle waves. There WILL be turtles, they are sometimes in knee deep water.
If you have other ideas of things you want to see, let me know, we can customize this tour because it's YOUR tour! If you would like to eliminate something to make time for other stuff contact me and we can see if we can make it work.

Kealakekua Bay the bay where Captain Cook fell on Feb 14th 1779. We view Cook Monument from across Kealakekua Bay, a protected bay where the great British explorer met a violent death. The last stop is to see some turtles, also known as local celebrities.
** Snorkeling stop available, 30-60 minutes. Two Step very popular but doesn't have a life guard, thus not for beginners. No amenities available (showers, etc. ), only a port-a-potty. Kahaluu Beach has good snorkeling as well. There is a lifeguard most days along with showers/restrooms and snorkel rentals. We can only go to 1 in the time we have. I can NOT control weather or snorkel conditions, or water quality.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: The meeting location will be at the pier if this is a cruise ship excursion, otherwise this tour includes pick up anywhere in Kona or the Kohala coast.
End location: The tour can end wherever you would like. There are some nice shops near the pier, a beach as well.
Most ask to be dropped off at the Farmer's Market in the center of town and easy walk.
Duration: 6 hours
11 passenger Mercedes van with air conditioning and DVD media.
Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park Certified Guide
Private guided tour and transportation with air conditioning.
Ice cold water and snacks.
Park fees for the parks.
Photography of your group.
* Please note this tour is 6 hours, not 4 like some others. If we start early you will still have lots of time to shop and visit the cute town of Kona. I can drop you off in the center of town.
**4 sets of snorkel gear if you want to snorkel. 2 are traditional masks/snorkels. 2 are the new all in one masks. 4 sets of fins available. Recommend aqua shoes to walk out in, fins fit over most.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
20 dollars - Money for lunch or souvenirs
Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park has changed it's Park pricing so now I need to pass on that fee. This tour has a $7 per person Park fee, they do not accept Park Passes when you are on a Commercial Tour. Pay the guide directly.
Groups that want a longer tour than 7 hours contact me and we can build a customized tour.

Jodi provided us an excellent tour, an interesting history lesson combined with her experiences of life on the island, all told with a wonderful sense of humor. It was great to see fantastic out of the way places we would never find ourselves. Her knowledge of local sea life and plants was very helpful to understand what we saw. We enjoyed her tour immensely and thank her for making our time in Kona so special.
