Khor-Virap, Areni, Noravank, Excavation Site - Price includes Transportation
We will start a little early this morning to have the best view of Mount Ararat from Khor virap monastery. A monastery which is the cradle of Armenian Christianity. This is where Grigor the Illuminator was imprisoned for 13 years. Later drive to Areni wine region. We will stop at one of the local wineries to have some wine tasting. Areni itself is the name of a grape type which grows only here. We will also visit Areni caves where the oldest leather shoe and the oldest wine press were discovered in the result of recent excavations, the excavations are still going on there, may be they are looking for the other pair of the leather shoe, haha. A spectacular view will open up from the sunroof of my car when we drive to Noravank monastery through the Gnshik Canyon which is like Armenian Grand Canyon. Noravank monastery indeed proves once again that Armenian people can be proud of there medieval architecture. It's a total harmony between architecture and nature.
