Rizo Karpaz, Ayios Thyrsos and Apostolos Andreas Monastery
Today's excursion is different than the usual one. Olive oil factory will be the first stop. Dipkarpaz or Rizokarpaz is a mixed village of Turkish and Greek people. Ayios Thyrsos Church is on our way to the golden beach . Its the most beutiful place to take photos and walk on the sandy beach or if possible swim. Apostolos Andreas Monastery is at the edge of the peninsula. While we drive in the nature you get to listen to the history of Cyprus and also one should not forget the donkeys at this site.
Our first stop will be at a olive oil factory which you get to see how the mill is working. Coffee break will be at Dipkarpaz village. We shall stop at Ayios Thyrsos Church. Its a church from 16th-17th century. Karpaz is a place of 80 km with its deep bays surrounded by greeen and sandy beaches. Caretta Caretta and Green head turtles come and lay their eggs to these sandy beaches every June. Until 1974 the farmers living in the villages had donkeys . After the inhabitants of these villages became refugees the animals were let free in the wild life. They breeded in the richness of the areas of vegetation which has provided them with environment where they had flourished. This area is priceless for the nature lovers. We shall drive up to Ap. Andreas Monastery. Which is the Holy place for Orthodox Catholics. You will hear the story from your guide and will have time to take photos, have lunch and swim.
