I know it from the heart, inside out. I also traveled extensively through Europe and parts of the United States. All of this comes out as part of my guiding.
My approach to guiding is not to lecture people and give them boring dates, but to make friends and to show my new-found friends this amazing place I live in and hope to give them a small taste of living in Africa!!
If you are the type that wants the dates and the facts. . . I can give you what you want! But my style is a more conversational one, engaging with my listeners and not a glibly rolling of endless facts from the tongue.
I am comfortable with bigger groups, but often prefer smaller groups where I can build relationships and make the experience more personal.
After you've seen Africa through my eyes, it will forever be in your heart. But beware, you might have to keep coming back for more. . . because Africa gets in your blood!
A Recent Review of this guide
Our tour of Soweto was enhanced by having a Soweto local, Queen, as our local guide. We saw part of it by car then stopped at the Hector Pieterson Museum - a moving experience with many personal accounts and photos. We visited the Mandela House Museum where Nelson Mandela lived prior to his years in prison. Seeing the places we had read or heard about was fascinating. Elna let Queen share her story of life in Soweto and her views on what has and hasn't changed. Enlightening experience!
I am a registered South African tour guide.
I am trained and licensed to guide in the following areas: Johannesburg, Pretoria, Pilanesberg, Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga, Free State, KZN, Limpopo, Port Elizabeth, Garden Route, Cape Town, the Winelands, Overberg and the West Coast.
Unfortunately, I don't do tours into Johannesburg CBD.
I also can't do tours after 6/7 pm due to the distance of my dwelling place. (Unless it is a multi-day tour of course)
