European immigrants who came to Uruguay were first Spaniards, followed by Italians, and around 1900's Jewish emigrants mainly from Russia and Turkey .
Later came from Eastern Europe and Germany.
Some arrived in the late 19th Century helped by philantropist Baron Hirsh to became farmer settlers in Argentina. So both countries had important Jewish population.
Some Montevideo Neighboorhoods had areas as the Lower East Side of NY at Downtown in the 1930's.
We will visit the outdoor Holocaust Memorial by the seaside, the only Memorial in South America. See the photos.
We'll visit the Pocitos neighborhood and beach, going by synagogues, Community Centers and Jewish Day school.

If you are cruisers, after leaving the cruise, walk along a green path about 200 yards to the Port exit blue iron bar door(see photos). It's behind some trees next to the Tourism Ministry. I'll be next to this exit holding a sign with your name. If you don't find me, please give me a personal call.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: l meet you at the Cruisier's Exit Door outside the Port (see photos) if you are cruisers, at your hotel lobby, at the Carrasco International Airport, at the Ferry Terminal or where you indicate at the time of your scheduled arrival.
Meet up location: PORT EXIT DOOR (OUTSIDE THE PORT).After you get off the ship you have to walk about two blocks to the exit Port Door.I will be standing next to the door.This is a iron bar door and it is painted blue.
Or I will pick you at your Hotel.

NOTE: If you don't see me holding a sign with your name please call me personally from your cell phone.
If you don't have a cell phone at hand, there is Telehone Cabin
next to the cruise docks.
End location: Will be at the same place where I have met you.
If you are staying at an hotel, I leave you there.
Duration: 4 hours
The duration and itinerary of this tour might be afected if the cruise docks later for some reason.Transportation company is hired within a certain time.
The itinerary is flexible according to your interests, it could not be completed due to weather, traffic.
Tour duration on weekends or out of season as there is less traffic we may see all highlights in a shorter time.
Transportation Method: Regarding the number of passengers, it might be a modern car, a Hyundai H1 or a Mercedes Sprinter or similar Van. Bus for groups (more than 15 passengers).

700 U$ - Around 40 USD per person for lunch in a restaurant if you want to taste some typical Uruguayan food.
Tourists may pay with US dollars or credit cards. Most places accept dollars.
Paying with credit cards in restaurants you will not pay the VAT Tax.
If you wish to buy unexpensive souvenirs and you wish to exchange some Uruguayan money in Uruguay there are money exchange shops in all neighborhoods.
