Experiencing the essence of Jerusalem; a tasting tour of Machaneh Yehudah and a walking Tour of Nachalaot.
The 'Heart' of Jerusalem and the first neighbourhoods of the New City are called Nachalaot, 'inheritances'. Each Neighbourhood is a representation of one of the communities that make up the new city and each one has a unique insight into the soul of Jerusalem.
The most direct way to a person's heart is through the stomach. This is also true of the heart of Jerusalem. By tasting the diverse flavors, smelling the fragrances and internalizing the music and noise of the Machaneh Yehudah Market you will absorb the culture of the new city of Jerusalem.
You shall begin with an introduction to Machaneh Yehudah and how it began and visit the open 'Shuk' (Market)
You shall proceed to the Iraqi market and sample some of the olives there and listen to the music of Ehud Banai at his family house in Ha Agas 1.
Afterwards you shall explore Georgian culture through the food of the Georgian Shuk and bakery of Hotchpuria.
You shall head into the covered market and take in the bustle and noise of the main market, learn about Yemenite medicine.
The Machaneh Yehudah experience ends with a sweet taste - the taste of the best rugelech in Jerusalem!
After our introduction to the Jerusalem communities you shall see where they live on a walking tour of Nachalaot.

Wonderful day with Yossi! He was very professional and courteous when he arrived at our hotel to pick us up and continued to be so throughout the day. Yossi helped us understand the cultural dynamics within the city while also tasting splendid foods that we otherwise would never have found simply by exploring on our own! The covered market is an absolute treasure but would be impossible to navigate without a knowledgeable and friendly local like Yossi! Would highly recommend him and his tour!
