I started my mountain life writing and performing interpretive theatre as a park naturalist and hiking park trails as a trail crew member. In the romantic setting of the rockies I found my soul mate, and have joined Dave on his adventures as a National Park Warden and wildfire specialist. We have lived in remote warden stations, explored the backcountry on horseback, and raised a kid who is fully in love with nature.
For the last 25 years I have been guiding and writing science-based exhibits and articles. Recently I was awarded a Master Level Intepretive Guide designation by my guiding community. I love hearing guests saying that I opened up a world that they would have missed had they gone on the trails themselves, or experienced a cool spot, not found on the well-worn tourist brochures. I like to personalize each trip, so that I work within your interests and phyisical abilities. Trails and destinations are chosen to highlight the time of year your are visiting- maybe it is a meadow bursting with alpine flowers, or a road that has recently seen grizzlies and black bears feasting on plants.
I love sharing nature with children, and make sure that kids are entertained and willing participants. I have spent years guiding seniors both on gentle walks and advanced hikes. For families and individuals that would like a challenge, I have some fantastic full day hikes that let us reach elevations with breath-taking vistas.
Most of all, I hope I am a match-maker, having my guests fall deeply in love with this remarkable mountain environment.
A Recent Review of this guide
Kirsten is an excellent guide! She was flexible, fun and extremely knowledgeable about the area. While doing a beautiful hike (despite the smoke from the fires) we learned a great deal about the plant and animal life of Jasper. She also gave us great advise and direction for the rest of our stay. I highly recommend Kirsten!
