Born and raised on the Island, I have always enjoyed helping visitors discover its charm for themselves.
I'm especially fond of exploring the Manx hills and coastal footpaths, although would be happy to provide historic walking tours of the main towns too. My suggested tours assume a start/finish in Douglas, and include fine scenic views as well as a ride on our Victorian steam train or electric tram.
Some visitors might like a visit to the remains of the Island's ancient 'keeills' (6th-12th century Celtic chapels), scattered around the Island, often in remote and evocative settings.
I qualified as a Registered 'Blue Badge' Guide in 2013.
Look forward to welcoming you to Ellan Vannin! (Manx for 'Isle of Man')
A Recent Review of this guide
Phil was certainly everything one would want in a tour guide -- informed, prompt, etc., -- but more importantly, he was a also everything one would want in a traveling companion -- courteous, positive, energetic, and a great conversationalist. He is a credit to your organization and a wonderful representative of the Isle of Man.
I qualified as a member of the Guild of Manx Registered Tour Guides ('Blue Badge') in 2013. This included training and assessment in site visit, guided walk, coach commentary, and written exam.
Since then I have guided several groups of passengers from visiting cruise ships, as well as some private bookings.
Regretfully I am not insured to take passengers in my car. However, if desired, I am able to act as a 'step-on' guide with a hired car and driver.
