Explore the Capital of Ireland's Ancient East!
Welcome to Dublin, Ireland's vibrant capital city and the capital of Ireland's Ancient East. My suggested itinerary for this tour starts in Trinity College, home of the book of Kells and Trinity's old library and it's magnificent Main Chamber. After a brief history of the University and it's part in Briton's attempt to colonize the Irish we will head over to the Old Irish Parliament and (if its open) and see the house of Lords as it was back then. After a stroll through Temple Bar, Dublin's party central, we will head over to the area of Dublin where it all began with the Vikings over a century ago. We can take in Christ Church Cathedral and then head into Dublin Castle, the seat of the British empire in Ireland for circa 800 years until independence and the Irish free state in 1921. Next is Dublin's City Hall with its magnificent Rotunda, originally the Royal exchange. We will then finish up at the the Mansion House, 1st Parliament of the Irish Free State.
On the suggested itinerary above we will see Trinity College, Old houses of Parliament, Temple Bar, 1st Viking Settlement, Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin Castle and the Mansion House.
However if you wish we can tailor your walk to see;
The GPO, rebels HQ during the 1916 Rising against British forces
St Patrick's Cathedral
Leinster House, Ireland's current seat of Parliament
Grafton Street and surrounding shopping streets
St Stephens Green, beautiful city park where the dubs hang out at lunch time

Had a wonderful and interesting tour of Dublin with John. An overview of the city, historic landmarks, architectural highlights and little hidden gems of the city! We enjoyed spending time with John and would surely recommend him to other visitors touring Dublin.
