Visit inside the Jatiyo Shnagshad Bhaban - the national Parliament Building
The Bangladesh parliament or "Jatiyo Shangshad Bhaban" as it is known in Bengali, is a unicameral legislature composed of 350 parliament members. It is one of the largest legislative complexes in the world, designed by the world famous American architect Professor Luis I. Kahn. The entire complex covers an area of 215 acres includes lawns, lakes offices for the Member of Parliament. The constriction works started in 1961 & its inauguration took place on 28 January 1982.
This building is divided by three parts: 1. The Main Building. 2. South Plaza & 3. President Plaza (North Plaza).
Total Cost of the construction was US$ 32 million. Main building consists of eight blocks rises to a height of 155 feet. It have 25 million sq. feet RCC; 50 Stairs; 340 Toilets; 1635 Doors; 335 Windows; 35, 850 sq. feet Glass shutter; 1, 33, 500 sq. feet Wooden Panels; Height of the parliament chamber is 112 feet. First season was held on 7 April 1973. Parliament Building is fully operating since 25 January 2009 (ninth season).
Sunday - Thursday: 10 am till 4 pm. Friday & Saturday is OFF.
Note:- Friday & Saturday is open 10 am till 12 noon (during the the Parliament season).
