Discovering Ile de la Cite'
Discover with me Ile de la Cite, the cradle of Paris. It was here that the first Roman town was built and it is here where some of the most famous Parisian landmarks still are.
We will discover the secrets of Notre Dame cathedral, and decipher its secret language made of sculptures, paintings and decorations. When was it built and why? Then we will walk along the little flower market nestled among the 19th Century building until we reach the terrible prison of the Conciergerie, where queen Marie Antoinette spent her last night before being beheaded. We will admire the incredible beauty of Sainte Chapelle's stained glass windows.
We will walk immersed in the magic atmosphere of the heart of Paris, breathing its history of blood and romance which gave shape one of the greatest city in the world.
We will meet outside the metro stop "Cite'" (metro line number 4). On request, if possible, I can pick you up at your hotel or apartment in Paris city centre.
We will visit:
- Notre Dame Cathedral and the little garden next to it (there might be a line due to security control. Usually it does not take more than 10/15 minutes).
- Conciergerie prison.
- Sainte Chapelle (there might be a line due to security control).
Mass services are performed in Notre Dame Cathedral so an appropriate attire must be worn to access the Church (they are not very strict, shorts and short sleeves are allowed, just take a scarf/pareo with you if you plan to wear a very short skirt/shorts or a sleeveless tank top) .
As described there might be lines due to security control. This lines cannot be skipped. There are no skip the lines tickets to Notre Dame and Sainte-Chapelle. In the last one being with a guide sometimes allows you to skip part of it but it is not always possible.
